Why isn't this deal showing as overdue?by rodzilla ()I just spent an hour pouring through this program's code - WAY down in the plumbing - trying to figure out why a deal wasn't showing up as overdue. I had done (almost) everything right. My template used a field as the booking date field - the estimated order date. I entered a new deal, and indicated a booking date of about two weeks ago - clearly making this an overdue deal. Except.... Consider the case of a new lead - a deal that has a Status of Unknown. How can you knowingly set a booking date for a deal that you know nothing about? You can't. Setting an arbitrary booking date for all new leads (say 3 weeks from the date of the lead) is introducing noise into your sales information that can cause all sorts of incorrect conclusions later on.... Desktop Sales Manager does not mark ANY deal that has a Status of Unknown as overdue. Once you have qualified the lead, set the Status to Engaged, or Contract then the deal will be viewed as overdue if it goes past the expected booking date. By the way, it is also not possible for a deal that has the status of Won, Lost, or Postponed to be overdue. Similiar logic applies - how can a closed deal be past due? |
