Windows Updates and Update Service
Sat, 2006-08-26 01:19 — rodzilla
I am reloading Windows XP on one of our development systems. After installing the operating system, I used the the free Windows Update service to install the latest patches, fixes, features and security udates.
It brought home just how important it is to keep you computer's operating system current when using our software. We deliver software that pushes the leading edge of your computer's operating system.
I can't count the times that the solution to a customer's technical problem has been to upgrade their operating system, Office products, and the .NET Framework.
I can even recall a client who had the automatic update option turned on, and STILL had to manually check the update website for the latest update to Office and the .NET Framework
If you are having technical problems with the software, be SURE your computer's operating system is completely up to date. Have Windows update service scan and update your computer repeatedly until there are no more updates to install.

Windows Updates
Yes, I was gravely affected because Microsoft's auto update doesn't really work that well. It took three attempts even using 'custom' to get all the updates. I'm now diligent at checking for updates as well as backing up my DSM files daily OFF-LINE. What a wonderful product!
