Outlook Contacts response timesby rodzilla ()From a trial user: I just installed a trial version of Desktop Sales Manager and when accessing Outlook Contacts the response time goes from fractions of a second to many minutes. I'm sure you'll agree that this type of response time is a deal breaker. Please adivse. Absolutely agree that a response time of more-than-a-few seconds is not ...ummmm...optimum? Roughly how many contacts in your Outlook Contacts folder? What type of computer/clock rate? Version of Outlook? Our program loads the Outlook Contact folder (or whatever Outlook contact folder you select) into memory the first time you access the Contacts tab of the Edit form. After that, the contacts stay loaded in memory and the access is noticeably faster. However, that initial load can still be a pain... If your Outlook Contacts folder has LOTS of contacts (thousands, not hundreds...) then you may consider using two or more Outlook contact folder – something like “Active Contacts” and “Mail List Contacts”. Outlook allows dragging/dropping between folders for one or more contacts, so maintaining the lists is pretty easy....and it is not a bad practice in any case...saves time looking through all those contacts..... |
