Setting up DSM for selling domain names

by Steve ()
Hi. I just installed DSM for the 7 day trial to manage selling my domain names. I don't have products or services... just domain names. It's similar to real estate in that each domain name is a unique item for sale, just like a home or property is one of a kind. Usually one prospect / potential buyer sends me an email or phone query or offer, or I receive them through my website where I have many domain names listed with their "Minimum Offer". I then want to be able to research the internet for other prospects and send them emails letting them know that the domain name is for sale, that I have an offer for it, and they can place a higher offer through my website. So, the usual is one unique domain name with one initial prospect, then several to many more prospects. Then, I need to be able to associate each prospect with other domain names that they might be interested in. I think this is called "one to one", then "one to many", then "many to many". I can't figure out how my simple needs would work with your available categories of information since I don't have a sales force, or appointments, quantities of multiple products, etc. I don't use Outlook. I use Thunderbird email, Firefox browser, and MS Office 2007. Please tell me how to properly utilize the features of DSM. Thanks, Steve

Very cool appication of the product, actually. Should be interesting. Here is how I might attack the problem.

1) Keep the primary domain name the customer is interested in product field. Sorting or categories will show you everyone who is interested/competiing for the same domain. Use the price they bid as the product price, quantity 1.

2) Keep all the "secondary" domain names that a customer is interested in or SHOULD be interested in a second field (for the eval, use the "competiton" field). In the Edit form right click on the Competition text field and select the full screen editor to enter/copy/paste all the domains. The field will hold 10-12 pages...and here is why...When you want to send and email to EVERY who is interested in the domain "softwareonsailboats.com" just do FILTER --> Search --> Softwareonsailboats.com and all deals with that domain will be displayed. Right click on the list --> Select All and email at will...

3) When researching for other prospects for a domain name note that you can drag-and-drop test from your web browser into fields - ane you can drag-and-drop large amounts of text into the Journal fields - a good place to keep reasearch data on a client...

There is probably more that can be done, but this will give you an idea...you may need to swtich over to Desktop Sales Office - it does email without going through Outlook....

Hope this helps...and thanks for your interest...
